One of the things I promised myself when we moved into our new home was that I would keep it organized and make the most of each space.

Naturally, I am not the most organized person. I’ve learned to reach out for help in this area and depend on the experts.

I took a visit to the California Closets in Cool Springs and sat down with designer, Kylie to discuss how they could help in this venture.

As a blogger and fashion lover, I have a LOT of clothes, shoes, purses, etc. In our new home I do have a big space, but it isn’t utilized in a way that makes sense. Kylie explained how they will come into your home, take inventory of what you have, and do precise measurements to design a custom set up that utilizes the space in the best possible way.

They can do this for a pantry, closet, laundry room, garage, or whatever other spot in your home needs organizational improvement.

They work with your budget and specific needs. Then (this was such a cool part) they do a 3D rendering of the space so you can visualize how it will look at completion.

One of the biggest takeaways from our meeting was her explaining Marie Kondo’s KonMari method. This method is a new approach to decluttering your home based on Japanese values that teach you to surround yourself with things that spark joy and let go of the rest. Ya’ll know I’m all about positive thinking, so the importance on being mindful, introspective, and optimistic with her approach really hit home to me.

This blends perfectly California Closets methods because if you only have the things that you love, then of course you would want to display those items. Everything has a home and can be seen, but also easily utilized. I instantly went home and incorporated her folding technique into my drawers!

You can view more on this method HERE:

Excited to kickstart my closet customization with some of the awesome ideas Kylie had. Our ceilings are very high, and currently only half of the wall is being utilized. She talked about adding display shelving for my handbags in the current wasted space. (I LOVED this idea.) There were also so many small things that I never would have thought of. For example, they can include an ironing board that can be tucked away, a steaming/display rod, laundry hampers, drawers for laundry, etc. So many things that can make everyday living easier and more functional.

I’m also ready to tackle my laundry room and make that space more functional with their help as well!

I learned so much and had a lot of fun sitting down for a consultation at the California Closets showroom.

I encourage ya’ll to make an appointment to see how they could help you in your home!(There are showrooms all throughout the US.) You can also read a little bit more about what to expect from an appointment HERE. An organized home truly does make for a more peaceful and productive life!
