Errands suddenly seem more fun to do when the air is a little crisper and the leaves have started to change. Doing these errands in this great poncho? Even better. This one is so comfortable and feels more like a blanket. A win, win! I paired it some of my other fall staples, flares and suede booties.
Nashville has so many cool neighborhoods, but East Nashville has to be one of my favorites. There are so many cool restaurants and boutiques with great character. I had a great day going around with a friend of mine checking it all out. I love mixing black and white prints and stripes. This poncho came from one of East Nashville’s finest, Kitty boutique. Happy Friday everyone!
I was lucky enough to tag along with my husband on his trip out to LA. One of his bands played the LA County fair last night and I wondered around to explore all there was to offer. As a fan of all things Food Network, I had watched a show that featured a lobster-grilled cheese from the LA Fair. After circling the entire grounds, we thought maybe we should just ask. They no longer had this glorious grilled cheese, so I settled for a street corn and watched the show. It was unusually hot for LA and I knew we were going to be walking, so comfort was key. This romper and my favorite go to Joie booties did the trick. Much more to come on the LA LA Land adventures!
It was a lay low and drink coffee kind of day. What better way to do that than in these floral bells? They are so adorable and literally feel like pajamas. I repeat, they feel like pajamas. Run and get them, you can thank me later. As a Nashville girl, this is my favorite new tank. All of these will be staples in my wardrobe this fall!
I had so much fun letting Katie Kendall, with Beauty by K2 , complete a fall makeup look for me. Katie wanted to use lots of warm colors and coppers, and I loved the final look! She started the base with Nars all day luminous liquid foundation, for an overall coverage. She then brushed Nars bronzer in “casino” on my cheeks for a copper glow. Motives cosmetics, “mavens” palette, offered lots of rich colors for the eye, using mostly “Boudreaux” she covered the entire lid and then lined with a bobby brown gel liner to create definition. Nars recently came out with new mascara, and it worked like a charm. Mac “Chili” red lipstick pulled the whole look together. Whenever I don’t have time for a full face, mascara and a good lip color like this will do the trick. I have so much fun each time we get together and play with new products. She really has an eye for color, and fall tones just happen to be my favorite!
One of my dear friends, Katie Kendall, is a makeup and hair stylist here in Nashville. Check her out via Instagram @beautybyk2. She is the queen at quick and easy hairstyles that you can easily do yourself in just a few minutes. Here is one she created that I happen to love!
Her instructions:
Products Used- L’Oreal’ High Lift Creation Spray, Got 2B volumizing powder, CHI enviro hairspray and a 1 1/2 inch curling iron
Step 1: Separate hair into two sections and barrel curl, using hairspray with each section.
Step 2: Take small section of hair from crown of the head and pull together with a clear elastic.
Step 3: Grab two sections of hair. (One from the left and one from the right.)
Step 4: Braid each section, making sure to keep the braids wide and loose.
Step 5: Take the braids and crisscross them, covering the clear elastic.
Step 6: Take the bottom-braided piece and loop over the top of the other braid.
Step 7: Tie the braids in a knot.
Step 8: Secure the look with bobby pins and additional hairspray.
That’s all there is to it!
I constantly find myself in a hair rut, doing the same things over and over again so I loved having her teach me this easy style.
Invest in a great leather jacket, and you’ll never have to wonder what to wear. Make it a beautiful wine color, and you get double points! Every woman has “nothing to wear days”, but if you stock your closet with a few staples, you can slowly start to eliminate these. You can start simply with a leather jacket and neutral booties. I find the heel height on these booties to be perfect to wear all day/night and the color goes with any color palette. I throw them both on with anything and everything!
I’ve never been one to pack up my closet and switch it out with the seasons. Might as well get as much wear as you can out of great basics! Rompers are so easy to transition during this early fall weather. I like to throw a leather jacket over it with some booties. Voila! P.S. Countdown to PSL season is on! (Yes, I know this makes me basic.)
I love a sale as much as the next girl, so when all the great summer pieces are on discount, I stock up! I typically look for pieces that were part of a summer collection, but can be transitioned into fall wardrobe. Exhibit A…this cape! I’m normally not a pink kind of girl, but the Navajo print on this piece was too perfect not to pick up! It’s on major sale so hurry and get it while you still can. I paired it with some shorts and wedges for these last days of summer, and will zip it up and wear it with some oversized flares in the next couple of weeks!
Happy Monday, everyone! I can feel the air start to cool down just a bit and the sun go down just a few minutes sooner. I couldn’t wait any longer to break out these over the knee suede boots, but as much as I’m ready for fall, it’s still hot! I paired them with this easy fringe dress to keep it weather appropriate. My obsession for fringe is never ending. Hope ya’ll have a great week and make the most of it! Lots of good things in the works this week that I can’t wait to share.
