On Georgie:

I can’t believe that Georgie is 6 months old. I’m tearing up just typing these words. My life has become infinitely better since his arrival and he has changed me in so many ways. I thought in honor of little man’s 1/2 birthday, I would jot down some notes on what he has taught me. I’d love for him to be able to look back in his baby book and have these one-day. So here goes:

6.) There is ALWAYS time for snuggling. I know it’s easy to get caught up in a to-do list. There’s always laundry to be done. Dishes to be done. Emails to be sent. Food to be prepared. Floors to be swept. (Who am I kidding with that last one….) BUT…. There won’t always be an itsy bitsy baby to be snuggled. I always feel like I have to explain to my husband when he gets home from work why everything isn’t perfectly in place. The true answer is simple. I was too busy snuggling. I’m ok with that.

5.) There is happiness in the smallest of things. Find it. I’ve always been told I am, “hard to please.” Having a baby has truly changed this. Seeing the smallest of things bring a smile to my babe’s face sends an instant reminder that there is joy in everyday occurrences. Sometimes Georgie even laughs at what appears to be nothing. There is no better sound in the world, or no deeper joy, than that boisterous laugh coming from that little body.

4.) Change is constant. Embrace it. As soon as I feel like I am getting in a rhythm with G, he changes. The second we get on a schedule, he hits a growth spurt, or has an achy tooth. Change is inevitable. While it does make things a little more challenging, how do you learn and grow without it? Who wants to be stagnant anyway?

3.) Never stop learning. Being a stay at home mom can put you in a learning rut. I’m not out in the field everyday being forced to keep up with technology or being put in situations where I have to educate myself on new topics. BUT that doesn’t mean I can stop learning. G learns something new everyday. He learns from going on walks and hearing the birds, reading a book, seeing something new for the first time. I love to see how something he learns leads to growth. You are never too old to learn. It’s all about taking that knowledge and growing from it.

2.) Unconditional love is real. You think you understand love to its full capacity with your siblings, parents and significant other. I can tell you for me that wasn’t the case. I’m so grateful to have amazing people who I love so much in my life. There is just nothing quite like the eternal love I have when I look into my child’s eyes. It’s magical. It makes my heart feel like it could explode. It’s indescribable.

1.) Chase dreams, not things. Disclaimer: I have always chased materialistic items. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good designer bag more than the next girl, BUT I have learned there is so SO much more to life. This has been the biggest lesson my baby has taught me. When I think of what I want for G, it’s always places I want him to see, experiences I want him to have, or relationships I want him to secure with loved ones. Rarely do I think of all the “things” I want for him. We have trotted him around the country already, and it’s a priority of mine to continue to do so. If he learns one thing from me I hope it’s to dream big, explore, and invest in experiences not things.

I had the best time attending the unveiling of local designer, Hey Wanderer’s new kimono collection, “eterno,” with fellow local blogger Hunter Schleicher.
The event was located at Mcgavock Manor, the adorable AirBNB and home of the creators of the brand. Every detail from the salted caramel macaroons, to the blankets laying around the fire pit, were perfect!

Hey Wanderer’s manifesto is derived from the concept that, “we are dreamers, thinkers, adventurers and believers. It’s a call to be better. We are all wanderers. We are all looking for something off the beaten path that will quench our thirst for knowledge, for being ahead, for being the best, and for living out dreams. Hey Wanderer is asking you not to settle, not to compromise, and to accept the struggle.”

I mean how perfect is that?!?!

These kimonos are what my dreams are made of. They are so comfortable and can be styled very casually or dressed up for any event. So much versatility in these, it’s something I HIGLY recommend adding to your wardrobe.

Each piece is hand-dyed and made to order. Can’t beat that!!!

You can shop yours here.

Ash

Posh Takeover

_1210241-edit

Hope everyone is having a great week! So last week I teamed up with a local Nashville boutique, Posh, to do a social takeover for their store. They have 3 locations (Hillsboro Village, Green Hills and Cool Springs.) Each of the locations carries their own unique lines that cater to that area of town’s specific demographic. I love that! If you are visiting Nashville, or live here, you must stop in and say hello to the girls! The girls in there will help you find anything you need and they even have champs on hand to make shopping a little more fun. (Let’s be real.. champs makes errrything more fun! I wanted to show ya’ll some of my favorite looks from each of the locations and share with ya what I couldn’t leave without purchasing. (Yikes.)

So my eye instantly went to this beautiful print maxi dress (wearing here as a duster.) This has been one of my easy “go to’s” for fall season. You can rock it as a maxi dress or put it over a shirt and some jeans open as a duster. This can carry you into the summer as well you can wear it over some cut off jean shorts and sandals too. I paired it with these caged BCBGeneration heels, because I loved the grommet detailing that is all the rage this fall and a Z Supply grey shirt. (SO SO comfy.)

This was at the Hillsboro Village location. Their dressing room has an adobe cave feel. Isn’t it the coolest?! The sales room in this location is MASSIVE. So. many. SHOES. At the Hillsboro location they also offer a wide range of mens clothing and some awesome gift items. They had an entire candle wall.

This crop top gave me alllll the feels. I loved the ruffle detailing on the sleeves and the bow. At first glance, I thought there was no chance I could wear this with my new post baby bod. HOWEVER, with some high waisted jeans it is totally do-able. I feel a lot of people are scared of the crop, but if styled correctly it can be really flattering without being overly revealing. One of my favorite styling tips is to mix and match girly items with more edgy items. These lace up booties where able to capture just that.

I also fell in love with this Scotch & Soda leather jacket. Ya’ll probably know by  now that jackets are kind of “my thing.” I just don’t have it in me to turn down a good one. The star details on this are really great, and the leather is so soft. You can contact Posh for more details on this gem! I paired it with these chuncky booties. They were really easy to walk in and they have a great dip in the front that makes them really flattering.

I completely fell in love with this beautiful Misa Collection 2 peice. How pretty is this print?! You can wear just the top with some jeans or just the skirt with a tied up t-shirt to make it more casual. I loved the look of both pieces together too.

This was at their Green Hills location. They had some really great dress options, and so many shoes, bags, sunglasses and gift ideas. They too carry mens clothing at this location. I found a Scotch & Soda vest for Trey. So good.

Last location of the day was at their Cool Springs location. They have lots of everyday, wearable pieces at this store. I couldn’t leave with out this last outfit. I knew the pieces were neutral and really versatile and I could wear them in my everyday mom life. If you haven’t invested in a rails shirt yet… go ahead and take the plunge. I typically wear their plaid styles, but couldn’t turn down this striped top. These olive jeans are really comfortable. (P.S. you can wear olive as a neutral just as you would wear a jean!) I topped it with a leather baseball cap and the best slide-on shoes I have seen.

It was such a fun experience hanging out at all of their locations and diving in to all of their fall pieces. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or reach out to POSH (poshonline on all social handles) if you’d like to plan a girls shopping trip with them!

ASH

How To Style A Bomber Jacket

Bomber Jacket |  Black Denim  |  Plaid Shirt  | Sunglasses | Shorts

I am really digging the bomber trend that is all the rage this season. If you buy one item, make it this bomber. It’s that good. Some of the satin bombers tend to look a little “cheapy”. This suede/oxblood version is such great quality and really takes this trend up a notch. It will become a “basic” closet staple, without looking so #basic. This really can take you from day to night and be dressed up or dressed down.

My favorite way to style this bomber is over a plaid top, some distressed denim and a good pair of tennis shoes. It’s great for running around and doing errands or grabbing lunch with friends. You could also pop some cute booties on with this. P.S. How gorgeous is Tennessee in the fall?! Stunning views out by our house.

P.P.S I’ve been getting asked a lot about the lip color I’ve been wearing. It’s this matte lip pencil in the color “Bahama- brown pink.” I top it off with my go to lip balm. (These have been my go-to gifts to give lately.)

This jacket can really make a statement when dressed up. You can throw it on over a beautiful silk lace cami and some leather pants or a leather skirt with some nude pumps. Perfect for a date night.

You can also style it over your favorite sports teams t-shirt (I’m really loving these..) or band shirt (also digging this one) with some distressed boyfriend jeans and booties. Perfect for a sporting event or heading out to a concert.

I’m not a fan of investing in trendy pieces that end up going “out” faster than they even were “in” BUT…  I really think the bomber is here to stay. Time to add it to your wardrobe!

On Me:  Embellished Top  | Black Ankle Pants | Booties | Long Cardigan

On Georgie: Vest | Baby Jeans | Mocassins

One of the reasons I love fall so much is that it signifies the start of the holiday season. Now that we have a little man in tow the holiday season just seems so much more exciting again. I have always been a person that embraces change. After too long in one place, I get a little stir crazy. I’m all about changing up anything and everything at the drop of a dime. The exception to this being holiday traditions.

When you first get married and join into a new family, one of the fun aspects is partaking in their traditions. However, I think it’s really important as a new family unit to make some of your own traditions that are special to you. The thought of Georgie passing these down to his own family one-day is so exciting to me!

The only holiday he has been here for was the 4th of July. Trey’s family typically gets together at the beach house for this holiday and Memorial Day. They have a cookout and say the pledge of allegiance. It’s a special thing for them, and it was exciting to have G there to be a part of it.

Halloween is the first holiday that we will be in Nashville with our own little tribe. I wanted to establish something that would be special for us to do and we found Cheekwood botanical gardens. They had a little pumpkin house, a bluegrass beer garden and thousands and thousands of mums. It was so fun to take G to get his first pumpkin, and also have some QT with Trey and a pumpkin beer.

I hope to follow through and keep doing this year after year so he will eventually look forward to it.

It was a little warm, but I was all about the fall spirit that I was didn’t mind sweating a little in my long cardigan. (Ridiculous, I know.) This embellished top gives me all the fall feels. I originally got it in a size smaller, but wanted a looser more shift like fit so took one back for a larger size. I live in boyfriend style cardigans that I can cozy up in during the fall and I love the fit of this one. Also, pockets. Enough said.

I’m sure ya’ll are sick of these black jeans by now, but they are just so good! Same with my go to open back booties.

How cute is G’s little puffer vest?! It’s under $20 and a must fall staple for little boys. I got so many compliments on it.

Bell Sleeves & A Baby

On Georgie: Zip-Up Hoodie | Moccasins

On Me: Crop Skinny Jean | Slide On Bootie | Bell-Sleeve Top

It’s finally feeling like fall. Hallelujah! The greatest part of the new found cooler temperatures is being able to spend more time outdoors. Georgie wasn’t quite big enough to be outside for any long period of time this summer. I’m ready to take full advantage of patios and parks.

G and I had a mommy/son lunch date the other day and walked around a nearby neighborhood. He loves being outside, and I love to be able to get out of the house a bit so it was a win-win!

How cute is this hooded zip-up jacket on Georgie?! I love the leather detailing on the zip. It does come in a white and pretty blush (for any girl mamas out there) as well. I love the hood option to cover his little ears, if it gets too windy. Luckily, he’s still fitting in my favorite moccasins. These were a shower gift, and possibly G’s most worn item. He gets complimented on them all the time!

I love the bell sleeve trend and couldn’t pass up this striped top. (P.S. It’s $20!) If you have stopped by the blog before, you know I can’t stop wearing these cropped skinny jeans. Best purchase that I have made in a hot minute.
