It’s cold in Nashville, ya’ll. Once it gets this cold, you can find me at home, in my plush robe and slippers next to the fire. When I do get out and about you better believe I am all bundled up! It might not be snowing, but I use the cold as an excuse for me to keep my feet nice and toasty in these Sorel boots. I find them so comfortable too! Also, this sweater is so warm! It’s on constant rotation!  I love the touch of leather detailing. Stay warm, friends!

I wore this silk wine colored dress to a wedding rehearsal the weekend before Christmas, and I can re-wear it as a New Years Eve sparkler too! I received so many compliments on this one, and it is so comfortable on top of it. New Years is always such an exciting holiday. The idea of a “fresh start” always intrigues me and inspires me to get back in the saddle and go after all the things that I want! This year in addition the the “eat healthy/work out” that’s always on my list, I’m really motivated to work on doing more random acts of kindness. Who’s with me?!

I hope everyone had a happy holiday and spent lots of quality time with their loved ones. I took a few days and headed down to Alabama with my husband’s family. It was nice and relaxing, and I’m pretty sure I could not eat for a week and still be full! If you still have holiday parties, try an all black look built from basics. I like to do this so I can re-wear the pieces again and again. And of course, after Christmas you can always score a good deal!

Last year at this time we were hibernating in the house, sheltering ourselves from the snow. This year, it’s been 70 degrees outside this week! While it might not feel like Christmas, you won’t hear this girl complaining! It’s been great getting out and about and soaking up all this sunshine! I’ve had the best couple of days hanging with some girlfriends, finishing up Christmas shopping, taking walks, hitting up a movie and laughing our booties off to Amy Schumer last night at Bridgestone Arena. This oversized scarf was perfect with my comfy t-shirt, joggers, and favorite dress sneakers. I love it for myself, but I scooped it up for Christmas gifts too! It’s under $50 and so versatile.

Hair and Makeup: Beauty By K2

My husband and I have made a tradition of a day of “Christmas Cheer.” I love it almost as much as Christmas itself! We put up our outside Christmas lights, go get a tree, (with hot chocolate in hand), wrap gifts, and decorate the interior of our house. It’s a warm, fuzzy day and I wanted my attire to match that. I put on my all time favorite boots (the only heel I can wear for multiple hours), leggings, and my favorite cardigan. All of which are on sale! It’s okay to get yourself a Christmas present or two. 😉

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving, fashionistas! I love a holiday that involves food, family and being humbled by all the reasons I am thankful. The whip cream on that pumpkin pie? Black Friday sales! One tip I have always gone by is making the most of the sales by purchasing my own big- ticket items and basics (and gifts!) at this time. You can really get the most bang for your buck on this item. I love shopping BCBG during this time, because you can start making the most out of these sales NOW! They run your card on Black Friday morning and you can stay in your pajamas and not have to fight the crowds. I purchased this coat on the sale and I absolutely love it. I always try to get a coat around this time for the upcoming winter, and why not get it when it’s 40% off?!?! I love that it has thumb holes built in, a fur hood AND is comfortable.

I love when I find a really unique piece that is well crafted. This BCBG top was love at first sight. The cut is unique and flattering, it’s well made, and the attention to detail in the embroidery is top notch. It is a tank, but no need to put it away until warmer weather! I threw my everyday leather and suede jacket over it, and some military green leggings for interest. It is still a little warmer than I would like, here in Nashville, but that hasn’t been stopping me from busting out my fall clothes. I’m determined to get back on the workout wagon this week, so updates on that to come. Maybe some workout wear in the near future. 😉

There are no “rules” when it comes to layering it up for fall. I love this look because it mixes colors, prints and textures. I paired a simple graphic tank, with a striped poncho and a woven scarf. (The scarf has little patches of fringe detail.) On bottom it’s a simple suede legging and suede booties. (Notice they don’t match perfectly.) One of the questions I get asked most is about “matching” things, but the beauty of fall fashion and layering is that it doesn’t have to!
