How stunning is this Hudson Valley Lighting Astoria Chandelier?! It was such a beautiful piece that I wanted to keep the rest of the dining room decor simple to let it shine. (Literally..ha!)

We started with a bright natural grasscloth. It’s a great way to add some texture into the space.

The rustic dark wood table tied in the darker tones of the floor. This exact table is Restoration Hardware. I’ve found a very similar, but more affordable option HERE.

The white chairs make a nice contrast to the table, and make it fun. (I’m still thinking of changing these out, but they work for now!) These exact are from Restoration Hardware as well. I’ve also found a similar, but more affordable option for those HERE.

Texture is my favorite to play with in home decor. If you stick with a more neutral palette (like our home) it’s the easiest way to add interest and have a more styled look. The easiest way to instantly add texture to a room is by layering rugs.

The base layer is this chunky jute rug. I can never deny a faux cowhide, and this grey version is at a great price point too! I’ve recently loved adding vintage turkish rugs into our home and the dining room decor was no exception! The prints are unique. This one was found at this Etsy shop HERE.

The curtains are velvet to continue with the texture play throughout the space.

My favorite part of the room is this one of a kind Sound Wave wooden art piece my dad made for us. It is off the sound wave of the song lyric by the Avett Brothers, “Always remember, there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name.”

When you share a meal in this dining room, we wanted it to feel like family. It’s the most important part of my life and this piece is just so meaningful and special.

I’ve found a really similar one you can purchase HERE.

It’s not quite done…but excited to be working from our new home office!

Ya know it sure doesn’t seem like work whenever I get to be in my slippers working from home in our new home office! It’s not quite dialed in just how I want it to be yet, but I just couldn’t wait to share it with ya’ll!

The office is directly across from the dining room, so we decided to do more of a group work space and have a dining table in exchange for a typical desk. This way it can be multifunctional when we have dinner parties and can double as a dining space.

I loved the weathered grey look of this Safavieh table . Eventually, I want to move these striped arm chairs into our living space, but I like how they work in here as well!

When it comes to bookshelves, keeping a neutral palette is key. It is so easy for them to look cluttered. I went with lots of baskets in different shapes and style to provide extra storage. From there I added in a few succulents, candles, flowers, and lanterns for interest.

Working from home with kids is NO JOKE. It takes tons of careful planning, lots of luck, and for all the stars to align perfectly and a unicorn to appear for it to actually work. I try to get an overlap where both boys are napping at the same time for at least an hour a day. (This doesn’t always happen…)

There is something about having a dedicated “work space” with this home office that is making me slightly more productive. It’s also so much easier to stay organized when all of my paper work or office accessories are right in front of me.

When we were looking at homes this was something I was really wanting to find to streamline my day to day living. I’m so grateful we were able to find the perfect one!

For this house I’m going for a mix of bright/light airy and modern with rustic accents. I thought this light fixture matched that vibe perfectly!

Travel and discovering different sights and cultures is so important to me. So this smap mural was the perfect decorative touch! I LOVE that we can show the boys with this map mural. I want to put pins on the different places we go. It’s got such a cool look, but also is a great educational tool too!

So happy to have this extra space! If you are in a small space, HERE was my small scale home office solution in our old home.

P.S. I’ve been LOVING this OVERSIZED SWEATER. I’m wearing a small for reference. It’s long enough to wear with leggings and cozy enough to be comfy lounging at home in!

We Moved! Our New Home Photoshoot

We moved! I thought it’d be fun to capture to do a moving and new home photoshoot with the boys.

Whew. What a week! Let me preface this by saying I am SO SO SO grateful to be in this new home. Also, very grateful to our amazing realtor and our family for making it all happen. (Luckily, Trey’s mom drove up from Alabama to watch the boys and allow us to focus on packing/moving and my parents right after.) BUT. It has been one of the most stressful and hectic times.

I was really sentimental about leaving that home. It was the first home Trey and I owned together, and also where we got married and brought both of our babies home. It holds so many precious memories to me.

We were extremely picky when it came to choosing our house. For a long time we thought we would build. (Plans were drawn up and builders were even picked.) After deciding that wasn’t the right move we looked at countless houses and even put in full price offers in this competitive market. The saying “what’s meant to be will always find a way” turned out to be so true in this case. I couldn’t imagine any of those other homes being the one we would make memories with these sweet boys in.

We ended up closing on both our old home and new home on the same day. Which was great, but also meant we had a VERY short turn around time to physically move out of our old home.

We started packing it all up about two weeks before the actual move. With the holidays, Trey’s crazy work schedule and general life with two littles…. that still wasn’t enough time. We were physically running as fast as we could up and down the stairs making loads to and from the old house at the end.

Our closing also happened to fall on the days of the winter storm. Most people weren’t even leaving their house, but we managed to make it all happen. Mainly in part to our (very patient) and amazing realtors. If you are in the Nashville area, I truly could not recommend Scott Knabe and Britton Kinnard any more. They helped us physically pack and move loads in his own car. They went as far as to bring us pizza and wine the night of the move.

Trey had to leave for work two days after we moved in so we weren’t able to truly get much done before he left. The majority of the unpacking and settling (while watching the babes) has fallen on me. Right as he left I got a stomach virus as well as both boys. Let me just tell you there is nothing harder than being sick with two sick kids!

I’ve been slowly unpacking, but it’s just going to be a long slow process. I’m so excited to bring my Pintrest boards to life and decorate each room how I’ve always dreamed. (Over time, of course.)

Georgie is still very confused as to what is going on and it’s caused him some anxiety. Some things that have helped were setting up his room exactly as it was, and keeping his stuffed animal and snuggly in there with him at all times.

Needless to say, most of the house is still in boxes scattered randomly around. One of the first things I unpacked were the kids Dockatots. They slept in those and they have been a LIFESAVER. If you don’t have one, you need one. I tell everyone that it is my one baby item that I couldn’t live without. If you aren’t familiar with Dockatot it’s a rest/play/lounge device made with hygienic fabrics that don’t harbor heat, but yet is snug and soothing. We like to travel with them, because they are portable. It was good to keep something familiar with the boys. They came out with this carrara marble cover, and I had to have it!

It’s starting to feel like home and I love that! Our neighbors have all been so inviting and warm so far. One brought us dinner and wine, and one brought cookies and invited G to a playdate. Can’t beat that!
