Date night hair & make up tutorial

unnamed-6Happy Valentine’s day weekend, loves! I’ve partnered with my girl, Katie of Beauty by K2, to bring you an easy, but sexy, date night hair and make up look. Katie did these pin curls for me for the CMA Awards and I received so many compliments, I wanted to share how to achieve that look with ya’ll!

Pin Curls 101!

  1. Step 1: Prep & Supplies. You will need:a TON of duckbill clips which can be purchased at Walgreens.
  2. Apply a heat protectant throughout your hair– I used Kerabalm, which can be purchased at Ulta.
  3. Step 2: Section the Hair and part the hair to your liking, then spray each section with hairspray (I used Sebastion. )
  4. Step 3: Begin curling your hair with a 1 inch curling iron to form Your First Pin Curl.
  5. When you remove the curling iron, leave the curl as close to the scalp as possible and place with a duckbill clip.
  6. Step 4: Continue Pin Curling. …
  7. Step 5: Spray the all over, wait 10 minutes before removing the clips, & you are done!

Katie’s Instructions for Valentine Date Make-Up

For the eyes: I prepped the eye with Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion in “Minor Sin”

I wanted to incorporate a Valentine themed eye, so for the lids I used many colors from my MAC X15 Palette in “Warm Neutral”:

To highlight the brow, I used the color “Brule”

For the crease I used “Creative Copper” and “Honey Lust”

For the lids, I used “Ginger Snap” and “Dark Brew”

For the face: I wanted to make Ashley’s skin look as glowing as it’s ever looked, therefore I used Stila’s Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Illuminator

I have been obsessed with MAC’s Studio Conceal and Correct Duo, I used this to conceal under Ashley’s eyes

I used Makeup forever High Def powder to set Ashley’s foundation

I used MAC prep + prime for Ashleys lips before applying her Sephora longwear lipgloss (Infinite Rose)

Whether you have a romantic night out (or in) with your significant other, or a fun time with your girls;  I hope everyone feels lots of love!

Ash

Beach Bumpin’

One of the band’s my husband manages heads out every year on a cruise. They play some shows on the boat and everyone brings their family, as a big band family reunion. This year they partnered with Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country for the Outlaw Country cruise. Being pregnant it was a little tamer then the past ships we’ve sailed away on, but it was great to see everyone and get some R&R none the less! We came back to snow on the ground in Nashville, which really makes me appreciate the sunshine I was able to soak up in Grand Cayman. We had a quick turn around time on our flight back, so I packed everything into a carry on. Pretty proud of myself for that one! I have learned over time to keep it simple when packing. Especially when heading somewhere warm! I found this longhorn swimsuit and absolutely had to have it! I swear by scarves as cover ups. They are light and don’t take up much room while packing, and you can get creative and tie them up many ways. Theodora & Callum has always been my go to for their amazing prints! I’m sure ready for sunshine after that. Who’s with me?!

A Casual Valentines Day

I know some think Valentine’s day is commercialized and cheesy, but as a lover of love, I’m a fan! I’m hoping to keep it simple this year and have a casual dinner with my husband. It’s great it lands on a Sunday, so we can soak in plenty of QT. That’s what I love more than anything! As much as I like to rock a sexy red dress, I’m going for a more casual Valentines day look this year.I thought this “Love” tank was adorable and is wearable for everyday. I love the beautiful color of this leather jacket and get complimented on it every time I wear it. It’s in constant rotation and has become a staple!

Black on Black on Bump

I have been trying not to buy actual “maternity” clothes since you can only wear them for such a small amount of time. When it comes to dressing the bump, creativity is key.  A friend of mine once told me whenever you are in doubt to just wear all black. I took that advice to heart on this day. I have purchased several of these Chaser brand tanks because they run a little longer and I can wear them again after the babe is here. The pants are my same ones I had prior to getting pregnant, I just loop a hair tie in the button to give me an extra inch of room or so. (I only do this when I don’t plan on wearing them for long periods of time.) I will still wear heels on occasion, but revert to comfy shoes whenever possible. These leather ones give me the comfort I crave, but still have great style to them!

Happy Sunday ya’ll! A fellow Nashville blogger, Hopefully Halie and I teamed up with Readylight Media and the glam squad at Harper and Olive Salon to bring a week full of showcasing some of our favorite  southern designers and giveaways. If you are located in Nashville, Harper & Olive is so amazing. They offer everything beauty! They have airbrush tan, lash extensions, hair, makeup and more. Mandy has it decorated so adorable. Her and I bonded over our love of everything Restoration Hardware. Excited for everyone to see what’s in store this week!

Tonight, two of my husband’s acts he manages our both playing Nashville. So it’s a busy night of rock and roll for this girl. ( I know, I know.. so rough, right?!) Nothing better than listening to some live music, in my opinion. I found this tank and knew I just had to order. I love the pop of color on this hat! and the leather detailing. It gives that extra little something to any outfit.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Spread some happiness!

Snowed Out

unnamed-2Snow days sure are fun! Spent lots of time with my husband’s family this weekend. We tried to get in all of the snow day activities we could! There was sledding, snowman making, snow ice cream and hot chocolate. It’s good to have friends and family so close when the roads are this dangerous. Our friends Jeff and Shelby live across the street and we went over for him to snap some pics and then walked to get some apps and milkshakes. These are the types of days you can’t complain about!

Hi

If you were as intrigued by the snow ice cream as me:

Mix 1/4 cup of sugar, a tablespoon of salt, a cup of milk and a teaspoon of vanilla in a bowl. Then whisk in 8 cups of the freshest snow you can find. It’s delicious! The kids loved it.

1e3758dd-cab2-427f-bfa6-4aa958051c49It’s a snow day for us Nashvillians today. I’m keeping it comfy. Since I’ve been pregnant I have LIVED in these camo leggings. My BFF Brit has them too, and the other day she told me she had to look down because she forgot she had pants on. Hilarious but true!! You need them. Moto Moda in East Nashville always has a great stock of authentic vintage concert t’shirts. When I saw this Hank one from 1984 I had to pick it up. If you are local, you must check them out. Everyone be careful out there and stay warm!

90b647ff-d901-4ff1-905f-8bb15aa81547I had such a great night last night with my husband and some friends at the Make A Wish dinner. Great music, great food (prepared by Chopped Junior Champion, Logan) and watching wishes come true. I haven’t been getting out as much since the pregnancy, but this was well worth it! A sweet four year old found out he was getting his wish of going to Disney World and having everyone in the room have a dance party to his favorite song. Does it get better than that?! I highly suggest attending Make A Wish events whenever you can. It’s amazingly humbling and it gives you all the feels! Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend and spreading some love!

6b2bbe84-ba75-4869-85c8-8a59e9d0c542This week has been such a whirlwind for me. Anyone else EXTRA thankful it’s Friday? We’ve been trying to purge some items we don’t need, and clean out closets to make way for baby. Who knew such a small little person could need so much stuff?! The rest of our weekend we plan to make productive but tonight it’s going to be movie night on the couch. I’m already looking forward to it this am! However, until then I’m running around like a crazy person. It’s rainy and cold in good ole Nashville so I’m layering it up again. I love the idea of layering flannels and graphic t’s under fur vests. This black and white flannel is such a staple.
