Birthday Invites for Georgie with Minted

How in the world am I already planning Georgie’s first birthday?! As soon as I knew I had to start the task I sat down and cried. I know it’s cliche to say, but this year truly flew by. “The days are long, but the months are short.” This has proven to be more true than I would like to admit.

We decided to go with a Woodland Animal theme, since G lights up around animals and the outdoors. I’ve turned to Minted for our holiday cards and G’s birth announcement so I was so excited to partner with them for his birthday suite.

They had so many options it was hard for me to choose! I went with these because they had a more neutral color palette and that’s what I want to keep throughout the decor. Minted also offers artwork, and party supplies!! One stop shop.

This mama can only get so much done during G’s nap time, so having the option to have the envelopes addressed for me was such a huge help. The address book saves from each occasion, so I simply clicked on the addresses we needed for this event.

Be sure to follow along with me on Pinterest (@beauandarrownas) to see what I’ve got up my sleeve for his party. If you see anything that would fit our theme, please send the pin my way! I love getting input whenever I can.

Here is the link to the exact invite. It was originally a baby shower invite, but Minted is fully customizable so we were able to work with an independent artist to convert it to a birthday invite. It also had a matching thank you note which I loved.

How is my sweet baby boy’s first birthday right around the corner?! I’m sure there will be many more tears to come. Can’t stop crying at these milestones. I just want him to need me forever, but my goal as a parent is to raise an independent, kind, and moral adult. Oh the irony.

Festival Fashion Trends with Express

Festival season is right around the corner! As a music business family, we spend our summers festival hopping. Even our 10-month-old son throws on his baby headphones and joins in on the fun!

Outfit Details:Plunge Bodysuit | Lace Bralette | High Waisted Black Denim Shorts | Plaid Button Down Shirt | Western Belt Stud Booties

I had so much fun partnering with Express to showcase how I style festival fashion! All thoughts and reviews are my own!

Music festivals have developed their own fashion aesthetic and I’ve fully embraced it! We all know it’s just as much about what you wear as who you go listen to these days, right?! It’s one big runway, but focused around livable fashion. I can jump aboard that train!

I tend to lean towards versatile, low maintenance pieces that can take you from the afternoon shows all the way until those late nights. Looking for pieces that travel well is also key!

A good plaid shirt is an absolute must. It looks cute tied around your waist during the day, and you can wear it unbuttoned and slightly tucked in when the temperatures drop at night. Wearing one side tucked in and one out, gives the look a little extra interest. I like to pair mine with a accessories and a bodysuit. Both pieces can be worn again with other staple items and are light-weight and easy for travel. You could also wear the plaid shirt buttoned up and tucked in, for a more conservative look. This would also really showcase the belt!

Once you have your basics, you can add some fun accessories to round out the look. I’m obsessed with this western belt that really takes the outfit up a notch! Finish that off with some fun booties and you are good to rock all day! Most festivals are in fields, and let’s be real, fields are dirty. Opt for booties over sandals to keep those feet clean! I’m a sucker for anything embellished, and the buckles mixed with the studs gives these the perfect edge to “rock up” the look.

This look is my go to during the summer months, whether I’m at a festival or just running errands around town. It’s so easy to pull off, and the pieces can be worn so many different ways. We are always traveling, so these pieces are great because they do not wrinkle easily.

The weather in Nashville has been beautiful the last couple days! I can see the light at the end of the winter tunnel. I used it as the opportunity to rock this summer outfit for doing a little shopping around town.

Lace Up Hoodie & Heels- How to Dress Up a Sweatshirt

One trend that is here to stay for spring is the lace up hoodie or top.

Lace-Up Hoodie | Black Skinny Jeans (they strech 😉 ) | Sunglasses ($22!!)

One trend that is here to stay for spring is the lace up hoodie or top. I opted for this lightweight hoodie in a cream color to bring into the spring and even summer. Pieces that are versatile enough to dress up or down, are always key to building a quality wardrobe. This one is inexpensive, and so comfy I wear it around the house or throw some heels on and transition to date night.

I paired it with a simple black pant, and nude heels to keep a classic look that you can easily wear on repeat. The bracelets are Cadyn & Charlie, and bring a pop of color!

ILY Couture has proved to be a go to site for me to find classic pieces that our versatile enough for me to get a ton of wear!

With our busy schedules, Trey and I rarely, as in maybe one other time, have the opportunity for a date night. So when we do get the chance we take it! This was the perfect easy (and still comfy for this preggo) outfit for the occasion!

Skirts for Spring with Asos & Family Time

On Me: Deconstructed Pullover Sweatshirt | High-Waisted Black Denim Skirt | Snakeskin Western Booties | Bracelet Stack | Hat

On Trey: Leather Jacket | Black Jeans |

On Georgie: Camo Moccasins | Stripe Hoodie | Grey Jean

Asos has been a go to lately for finding both Trey and I clothes. (They sell maternity too!) I’ve been wanting to find some skirts for spring, and they had so many great options! Since denim jackets and skirts are having a moment, I went with this high-waisted black denim option. It’s super affordable. Whenever I’m looking for “trendier” items, I opt for an affordable version. Then I’ll pair that with some designer classics. A little wardrobe building hack for ya.

Trey got this leather jacket as a birthday present (from yours truly) this year, and I must say it’s been quite the staple piece for his closet. It’s a bomber version, which makes it look a little more modern. A good leather jacket is the best investment for a guy. If you are in need of a present idea for your man, that would be my recommendation!

Georgie looks so cute in little baby jeans, but I’m picky about which ones I will put him in. I tend to lean towards options that still have a ton of strech (not like a true denim material at all) so he is still comfy. Of course, he is wearing his camo moccasins because they are the only shoes he will let us put on him.

We try to get out and about as a family on any weekend Trey is home, and spend quality time together. The zoo, the park, a patio brunch, walking around Cheekwood Gardens, hitting up Franklin historic downtown shops, a festival, anything we can get outdoors and spend time together. It’s important to us for Georgie to experience as many things as he can. When you stop to think about how crazy it is that each of these things is the first time he is experiencing anything like that. This is the way I like to teach him, through real life experience. He is such a people watcher, and I can see his little brain just acting as a sponge and taking every little sight and sound in. It’s truly one of the joys of parenthood experiencing all those small things through a fresh set of eyes again.

Bomber Leopard Print Jacket- Spring Transition Staple Pieces

If I could keep one item in my closet, I’m pretty sure that this leopard embellished bomber would be it. Obsessed is an understatement when it comes to this bad boy bomber. It’s lightweight and so comfortable, perfect for spring transition. It was still a little chilly so I paired it with my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans, but this spring I’ll wear it with some black denim shorts or a black denim skirt and sneakers.

Trey is gone for work most of the month of March, so G and I are getting LOTS of bonding time. HOWEVER, it is not easy. I praise all the single moms out there. I’m pretty sure that is the hardest job on the planet. I’ve never been great with time management, and trying to get anything accomplished and bringing a baby along is no easy feat.

One thing I’m so thankful for is other moms I’ve been able to connect with to talk to, and get advice from. It’s a different kind of friendship, and one that is instantly strong because you can relate to one another on a new level. Georgie loves other babies so playdates are a win-win. I get time to talk to a friend and he gets to play!

I hope everyone has a great rest of their week!! It’s supposed to be cold the rest of the week in Nashville, so we will be cuddled up until the weekend. Spring fever is in full force over here!

Freshly Picked Moccasins- Georgie’s Milestones

On Me: Camo sweatshirt | Skinny Jean | Slip-On Bootie

On Georgie: Camo Moccasin | Jeans (much softer/strechier than a typical jean) | Waylon Jennings Baseball Tee

Are there any other mamas out there that get just a teeny bit sad when their little hits a big milestone? Of course I burst with pride, but it’s always bittersweet because he has gained independence and needs me just a little bit less. Georgie has always been a very active little one. He was quick to roll over, crawl, and now take those first wobbly steps. The boy would prefer skipping walking all together and just run free! (Keeping up with him helps me get my excercise in daily!)

We’ve taken him to the zoo and to playgrounds, but his face lights up the most when he is in a big open field. Endless room to run and play!

Since he is such a mover, I’ve had the hardest time keeping shoes on his feet. The only ones that seem to do the trick have been the Freshly Picked moccasins. They are soft, but give his little feet protection now that he is crawling and walking around everywhere.

I have the leather pair in a stone, because they are so neutral and he can wear them with virtually everything. Recently, we also got the camo color. I treat these as a neutral as well. G is all boy so they fit his little personality so well!

Since finding out baby #2 is also a boy, I’ve had just a tinge of gender disappointment. I know that G and baby boy 2 will be the best of friends, and that makes my heart smile. However, that doesn’t stop the images of me teaching a little girl “first position” and watching her from a dance stage or dressing up in matching outfits. I’m making the most of the situation, and “coordinating” with G. This camo sweatshirt with patch detailing is super soft and lightweight and goes with G’s adorable moccasins.

P.S. Be sure to check out my Instagram this week for a giveaway featuring a pair of these moccasins. Trust me mamas, you won’t want to miss it!

20 Week Pregnancy Update- Halfway There!

I can’t believe we are halfway to meeting our new little boy! I’ve been so busy chasing after Georgie and keeping up with everyday life that time flew by this go around!

With G I had several issues, and generally didn’t feel well the entire time. This pregnancy has gone much smoother, and besides the normal first trimester sickness it’s been easy sailing.

Last pregnancy I bought very few maternity items. I typically try to pick clothes that I can wear again post pregnancy. So far I am still in my regular jeans, but I am loving being comfortable!

Anyone that knows me well knows how much I love my robe. I wear it so much my nephew came to the door one time and I was in street clothes. He instantly looked at me confused and asked, “Where’s your robe?” Well, this duster feels just like a robe!! It’s one of those pieces that every time you wear it people ask where you got it. It’s so comfy and will be so cute with denim cut offs and a blouse or t-shirt this summer. I paired it with some heels to take the look up a notch, but it would be just as cute with some comfy sneakers.

This vintage distressed shirt is from Starstruck Vintage in Nashville. They have the best vintage graphic band shirts! If you aren’t in Nashville, you can shop it here.

I hope everyone has a great rest of your week!

Sweaters and Cutoffs- Spring’s Fashion Staple

I’ve been on the struggle bus lately with energy. Being pregnant while trying to keep up with a 10 month old is not for the faint of heart. The light at the end of the tunnel is that spring is inching closer and closer. Georgie is so ready to be able to be outside and go to the park, and this mama sure is too! I’ve been finding lots of great (inexpensive) spring finds at Vici Collection lately.  Continue Reading

10 Reasons I’m “Lucky”

“Lucky” Sweatshirt | “Lucky” Sweatshirt- hoodie version Stripe T-Shirt | Ripped Jeans | Booties | Gucci Bag | Necklaces | Bracelets

Photography: Chelsea Rochelle Photography

I always find the CUTEST and comfiest sweatshirts for each season/holiday at ILY Couture. Typically, I go for ones that I can wear all the time and not just around that holiday. This “lucky” sweatshirt is so cozy and works perfect for March and St.Patrick’s but isn’t to “theme-y” to not whip out the rest of the year too. 😉

I’ve never considered myself a “lucky” person, as in I’ve never really won anything or anything like that. BUT in all actuality I am extremely lucky and with St.Patrick’s Day coming up I thought it would be fitting to take a step back and share some of the reasons I know consider myself a very lucky lady.

If you have been following me for awhile, you know that one of the things I truly believe in is the power of positive thinking. I think if you remain in the positive and put out positive energy to others than that will come back to you. One of the staples of this is that you have gratitude for the things you already have. Life gets so hectic and it’s so easy (I do it all the time) to just think of everything that’s going wrong or all of the things that you don’t havc that you lose sight of all the great things that you already do.

This would be a great tradition to start for St.Patrick’s day. Each family member could write out some reasons they are “lucky”/thankful. It’s a great lesson to teach kids!

So… here it is. 10 Reasons I consider myself “lucky”

10. I live in a city I truly love! I’ve lived in several places, but Nashville just feels like home to me. There is  a creative energy in the air here and always new restaurants and spots to try. The people are friendly, and the food is great. What more can you want in a place you call home?!

9. I have a roof over my head and a pair of wheels to get me around. Simple…but so many don’t! Trey and I bought our house just 2 years ago and it was brand new. Lately, with the new baby coming all I can think is we need bigger & better. It’s good for me to take a step back and be so thankful we have what we do!

8. I’m lucky enough to stay at home with Georgie and soon to be baby 2. It is by far the hardest job I’ve ever had, but also the single most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I’m fortunate enough that it was an option for me to do so, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

7. With that being said, I am so lucky that we found a great nanny that comes once a week so I have time to work on the blog and have some “me” time. It’s a new found thing for me, and I’m cherishing it! When you take care of yourself (even if it’s just a few hours a week) you are more apt to take care of your kids and husband.

6. We have a great extended family who is always there for one another. (On both sides.)

5. That I’m able to do blogging! It’s a side gig that allows me to still be creative, and dive into the fashion world. It has also introduced me to some amazing women who have turned into even more amazing friends.

4. That I’m able to travel with Trey frequently. I’ve always been a bit of a nomad. Staying in one place to long makes me bored. (Quickly) We have gone on some great trips and shown Georgie so many things in his short little life too!

3. For great friends! From the lifelong ones to the new ones!

2. My health. It’s something that when you have it, you take it for granted. When you sit back and think, it’s one of the most important things we have!

1. Trey, Georgie and baby #2 (no we don’t have a name yet).

The perfect spring LBD

Little Black Dress | Booties | Sunglasses | Handbag Necklaces: Mary Kathryn Designs Bracelets: Cadyn & Charlie

Photography: Chelsea Rochelle Photography

It’s felt like spring in February the last few days in Nashville and it has been glorious!! I’m spending as much time as I can outside to soak it all up and look at the spring blooms. I have found ya’ll the perfect off the shoulder dress ! It can be dressed up or down and is under $100!! It’s cotton and lightweight so it would make the perfect swim cover up this summer as well. I paired it with my go to suede booties, and some handmade jewelry. So easy and comfortable. Whenver it’s a little more cool, I will layer a denim jacket over it and my Converse or Golden Goose tennis shoes.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Trey will be gone most of the month of March for work, so we will be getting outside with Georgie and soaking in all the family time that we can!
