Trey had our mattress long before he and I got married, so I was so grateful Tuft & Needle sent us a new one to upgrade!
I’m not going to lie, I was slightly nervous when I saw the box arrive at our doorstep. It was crazy to think a King sized mattress could fit in there. It really was almost too good to be true, you can order the mattress online, it shows up at your doorstep, and the box is a manageable size. (No more awkward 2 person carrying a big ole mattress up the stairs.) Georgie was amazed watching us take it out of the box and how it fluffs right up!
I was drawn to this Tuft & Needle mattress because it is made of adaptive foam and was created to help you sleep cool. (We are hot sleepers over here.) I also liked the fact that it provides lots of support and localizes the bounce to prevent feeling your partners movements at night. (Trey is thankful for this, because this ole’ preggo tosses and turns constantly throughout the night these days.) Let me just tell you, it did NOT disappoint. If you aren’t happy with the Tuft & Needle mattress they do offer a 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty. I also love that they donate any returned mattresses to local charities.
Some of the most precious times with Georgie are when we go get him from his crib and bring him into our bed in the mornings. He either watches a cartoon or we read a few books before we get up and start our day. I’m grateful our bedroom has turned into our little sanctuary.
Being a mama to an 11 month old and 6 1/2 months pregnant a good nights sleep is one of the most valuable things you can get! This Tuft & Needle mattress truly helped make that a little easier for everyone involved. 😉
P.S. I’ve gotten lots of questions on my socials about this Safavieh settee… I’m still loving it so much. You can find it here.
P.P.S. These camo joggers are so comfy! You can also find this lace up hoodie sweatshirt HERE.
How to create loose beach waves quickly with the T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers:
Step 1: Rollers are already a low damage approach to getting curls, but I spray my hair with a heat protectant.
Step 2: Section off the top center of your hair. (Like a Mohawk..)
Step 3: Going horizontal roll the rollers away from your face in that section.
Step 4: Roll the sides of your hair, pulling away from the face.
Step 5: Let the rollers cool for 10-20 minutes. This is the great part of these, that you are hands free for that time!
Step 6: Slowly unroll the rollers. I then part my hair in the center. I wait to pull the curls apart for a few minutes, to give them time to set.
Step 7: Loosely finger thru your hair to create those loose beach waves and spray with dry shampoo to give it some texture.
Since I’ve become a mom the most valuable thing to me is time. I used to spend a lot of time getting ready, but that is just not an option for me anymore. Georgie is usually at my legs waiting to play as I get ready OR I’m rushing to get it all done during those precious nap hours. (Who am I kidding, hour. On good days.)
It used to take me 30-40 minutes to blow dry my hair. No joke. It’s so long and thick that even if I wash it at night and let it air dry, it would still be damp the next night. A friend of mine told me about the T3 Micro Featherweight Luxe Blowdryer awhile back, and that it saved her so much time getting ready. That was the magic word I needed to hear. I was skeptical, because I have tried so many hair tools in my day. THIS THING IS A MIRACLE WORKER. It truly gave me the best blowout I’ve ever had. AND.. it’s just so pretty.
I only wash my hair two times a week. I used to get made fun of in middle school for this. Well all you mean girls, eat your heart out, because I consider myself lucky to be able to wash and wear my hair for several days at a time and not have to bother with it.
I spray my hair with a detangler with heat protectant in it. Then blow dry it. Then it’s ready to curl. Sometimes if I want a tighter curl I will use a wand. To create this beach waves look (that’s super easy and fast) I just used the . I love that the velvet on the rollers help to create extra shine, and the extra large clips prevent any type of creasing. like the old school rollers would leave.
I’m going to be doing a make-up tutorial soon too on how I create a quick and easy day to day look so be on the lookout!
I’m not sure why I’ve been on such a tiger kick lately, but I’ve been loving them! Chaser brand is my go-to for summer graphic tees! This tiger version makes a statement without being too much. I like to add some white jeans to my wardrobe to brighten outfits up for spring/summer. Once it really starts to get warm I’ll go with cut offs. I’m on the hunt for the perfect distressed white pair now! I swapped my typical bootie for these black and white Marc Fisher platform wedge sandal. Comfort is key with shoes these days, being pregnant and chasing an 11 month old. It took me a minute to find the perfect pair that were super easy to walk in, but these ARE IT! My other latest obsession is the third eye.. it started with this manicure. Then I found this dainty necklace and I’ve been wearing it on repeat.
I’ve got a super busy week, but lots of exciting things happening! We have a meeting with a home builder today, I have a couple blogger events around town, and I’ll be doing lots of prep work for Georgie’s birthday party next weekend. I’ve been pinning woodland animal ideas and home decor inspiration like a mad woman, so if you don’t follow along with me on Pinterest you can find me HERE. If you have any pins for these things, I’d love if you could send them my way!
If you have been following along with me for awhile, you know I love finding charitable fashion companies. I love when a business takes initiative to do more and in give back. Nena & Co is one of those amazing companies. Each purchase helps enable them to make a difference in the Guatemalan lives of artisans that make their one of a kind creations.
The give back by providing purified filtered water or a scholarship to help Guatemalan artisans receive a better education.Their “One of a Kind Collection consists of products constructed using curated vintage fabrics purchased from loyal Guatemalan market vendors.” How cool is that?! I love knowing that not only is this bag one of a kind, but an artisan took the time to craft it. The bag has already lived a life and has a story! Plus, it helps that artisan better their life in the process. Since this is such a special company, I couldn’t just keep all the goodness to myself. Head over to my Instagram (@beauandarrownashville) to enter to win one of these amazing bags!
Another amazing company is Nashelle Jewelry. All of their pieces are handmade in the USA using recycled materials. For each piece of jewelry purchased they donate a plate of food. I love the texture on these rings, and they would make a great gift!
Everyone knows about the little black dress, but for spring and summer I love to replace the classic with a little white dress. I love the natural look of this dress and the bell sleeve detailing. It does run pretty short, I would size up if you are on the taller side like me! I paired it with suede studded clogs. Clogs are having a moment and I am totally okay with that!
I use to do a lot of volunteer work, and since Georgie has been born I have been horrible about doing my share. It’s something I really miss in my life and want to work about getting back into. While I am in baby mode, I love shopping with companies that are giving back so I know I’m helping, even if it’s in the smallest little way. I would encourage you to go out and to do the same!
How cute are these embroidered denim shorts? I went to college at the University of Memphis (besides my short one semester stint elsewhere) and one of my favorite boutiques to shop at during my time there was Mozelle’s Boutique. The owner, Karrie, is a huge sweetheart and they have some great, affordable pieces. She is starting to sell more online, so be sure to go follow them on Facebook/Instagram!
I paired the shorts with an oversized boyfriend button down. I love mixing prints and stripes & floral just screams spring to me. You could also wear this button down un-done as a swim cover up. It runs long enough to do so. (Always great to have options!)
After looking for a perfect neutral bag for quite some time I ran across this tan shoulder bag. I loved the gold detailing on the strap. After I had already worn it I found this version of the same bag that has studs all around it, and I’m really loving that stud detailing.
If you are in the Nashville area, be sure to come see me at Kendra Scott this Friday April 14th for an in store event at the Green Hills location from 5-7pm! We will be celebrating the stores 2 year anniversary and showcasing the new summer collection. I love this jewelry brand, because they put so much focus into giving back to the community and as great as fashion is, giving back is better.
All holidays are so much more fun now that Georgie is in our lives. I’m so excited to see his little face when he comes down stairs and sees his Easter basket, finds eggs, and gets to see his family and celebrate the reason for the season.
We don’t allow Georgie to have any type of candy just yet, and we really try to limit the sweets. Easter baskets were always a big thing in my home growing up and my mom always had lots of items (that weren’t candy) in our baskets. It was more of a “Spring basket” and had lots of things that we could use for the upcoming spring and summer season. I love the idea of this, because it really makes you excited for the upcoming warmer weather, and the items get lots of use.
10 Ideas of What to Put in an Easter Basket for a Baby:
1. A stuffed animal bunny. This one seems pretty obvious, but this Cuddle & Kind bunny takes it to a new level. They also have a girl bunny and little lambs that would be perfect for Easter. (And SEVERAL other options for any other times.) I love finding charitable companies and this one takes it to a new level. Each stuffed animal is carefully created by artisans in Peru that are provided sustainable, fair trade wages. They also donate 10 MEALS to children in need for every doll sold. Their goal is to provide 1 million meals a year to help combat childhood hunger. Now THAT is a stuffed animal worth giving.
2. I filled little easter eggs with Annie’s organic bunny snacks. They have a variety of different flavors, so I grabbed a couple different ones to add some variety. (They are also gluten free and free of any additives or preservatives.)
3. Clothes for spring! I always looked forward to this in my Easter baskets growing up. (Go figure…) I found these adorable little sets from Lulu and Roo . I loved the cutoff hoodie sweatshirt with shorts. Perfect for the upcoming warmer weather!
4. Teething toys. Georgie is currently teething so a teether that he can easily hold on his own is perfect. These BrixtonPhoenix teethers are a little more stylish then some of the bright crazy colored ones out there and more importantly are handmade in the USA. They are also 100% Food Grade Silicone, 100% Non Toxic and BPA Free
5. Swim gear!! This is just exciting because it means that swim season is near. I thought these little trunks were adorable. A lot of the matching sets had short sleeve tops, but Georgie is so fair skinned I wanted a little more protection. This long sleeved rashguard has SPF50+, is made in America and is right around $20. Much better option, in my opinion! They have several colors, but I went with the white so I could pair it with different bottoms.
6. Bath toys and bubble bath. G is really loving animals lately, so I thought this animal bath toy set would be the perfect addition to his little Easter basket. You can also fill a small tub with water and put these toys in for day time play. Georgie loves to splash around outside and take all of the items in and out.
7. Books! We are a big fan of books in our household. I’m thankful that G loves to read. One of our favorites is this National Parks book. Hopefully we can bring him and baby #2 to as many of these parks as possible!
8. Spring swaddle blankets. G is way past the swaddle stage, but we use these blankets ALL.THE.TIME. Little Unicorn has been my go to. They are so soft, but yet hold up really well. They will be perfect to put over him for our strolls on days when it is still a little chilly.
9. Sippy Cups. We are trying to make the big change from bottles to sippy cups. G really hasn’t taken to it very well, but making it exciting as part of his easter basket will hopefully help do the trick!
10. Baskets that can be used again! These Pehr Designs baskets were the perfect size to make an Easter basket, but more importantly a cute toy catch all to use in his room later. No need to waste a cheap basket, and these are so much more stylish anyway. 😉
I hope this helps you with some easy ideas and everyone has a great holiday with their families.
I have been wanting an office since I started the blog, but kept putting it off due to only having a small space to put it in. We are currently on the house hunt, and I would tell myself that once we are in the new house and have a whole extra room for an office, then I would design one. BUT, why wait?! My back was starting to kill from working at our bar with a backless bar stool, and I was keeping my files in the laundry room. It just wasn’t productive at all. SO I made the most of a small space we already have at the landing of our stairs and I’m so glad I did.
You can virtually put an office anywhere. In a guest bedroom, the landing of a stairwell, in a nook, in a sunroom, the possibilities are endless.
5 Tips for a Small Space Office:
1. I think finding a good rug that helps defines the space is key. I went with this round rug, because it was a great fit for the small space that I had. Nuloom rugs have so many great rug choices, and I knew they had great quality. It’s also under $100, and since we are moving soon I looked for something with a neutral print that I know will work in the new space as well.
2. Find a small desk that still packs a punch. I couldn’t decide if I wanted the sleek all white desk or something a little more rustic and this one was the best of both worlds! Just because you don’t have much room, does not mean that you have to skip on style. I really like how sturdy this one is, and clean looking.
3. Find yourself a comfortable chair. Now that I have really been focusing an extra free time I have on the blog, I spend a LOT of time at my desk. You really want to be comfortable there. In my opinion, comfortability leads to productivity. It’s highly unlikely I will sit somewhere and really be able to focus and cross things off the to-list if I’m uncomfortable. For me I was looking for something with a tall back and a little bit of an arm rest. I loved that this one had the gold handle detailing on the back and the nail heads to add some style.
4. Organization! One of the main points of me getting a work space was so that my folders, binders, calendars, etc were no longer in the living room. I went with a neutral file folder holder with some gold detailing. I actually need to go back and get two or three more. The great thing about these is that you can get as many as you need and stack them together. I also found a gold pencil holder that had plenty of space for scissors, pens, paper clips, and any other odd and end office supply that I might need. When everything is neatly organized and within an arms reach it makes everything a little easier.
5. Have some wall space. If you are working with a small space, it’s best if you do have some wall space that you can hang what you need above your desk. I have pictures above mine from now from Framebridge, and this marble dry erase board and a hanging gold catch all board. You could also put more file folder space, a hanging calendar, or any other organizational tool in that area. It takes up far less room than file cabinets or bookshelves.
I’m so excited to final have a happy little workspace in my home and it’s inspiring me to really work hard and create lots of new content. Stay tuned for so many upcoming fun projects!
Spring fashion is one of my favorites! Summer it gets too hot, winter too cold. Fall and spring are just right. If this isn’t the most perfect spring jacket that exists, then I just don’t know what is!
The floral embroidery/white combination is easy to pair with a plain t-shirt and denim shorts, or dress up with a silky slinky dress underneath and some heels.I paired it with my ABSOLUTE favorite basic t-shirt. It comes in several colors, and is under $20. You can find it here. It’s not overly heavy at all, so it really is perfect for this weather. You can rock this into summer at night time as well. They did not miss a single detail on this beauty, from the grommets around the sleeves and up the back, to the embroidery on the collar, back and front… it’s just all so good. I could go on and on forever. I have the black version as well, and received so many compliments any time I would wear it!
If you haven’t made the plunge to buy a pair of one teaspoon denim shorts , you should. I wear mine NON stop. I ordered a size up for pregnancy with G and wore them most of the time then too. My go to looks for spring fashion are anything paired with some one teaspoons. HA!
We are so happy to have some warmer weather in the Wilson household. Georgie was starting to go a little stir crazy. Even just going out to run errands is just a little happier and easier. I roll the window down for him and he just smiles away. It’s so sweet to see how much he enjoys being outside.
Hope everyone has a great week. We had a great time in Vegas for the ACM awards this past weekend. I’ll be sharing pics from my camera roll ASAP with some behind the scenes shots, outfit ideas and share some of our favorite places to check out to eat and visit as well. Stay tuned!
P.S. I was getting lots of questions on this lip color on my Instastories.. the color is “mauve” and you can find it HERE .
I’ve been still living in my robe.. I mean duster, but I’m starting to be styling spring looks with it much more these days. I’m not a fan of too much bright color, but I love things with summer vibes. So this pineapple tank top that has more muted colors, is my jam. It would also be adorable styled with cut off denim shorts and lose the duster once it’s too warm to wear it. (Until then I will be styling it with everything.)
I love to stack a bunch of necklaces with a graphic tank. These Mary Kathryn Designs are dainty and neutral enough to pair with anything. You probably know by now I wear these booties NON STOP, but this would look so cute with some sandals too.
Also, I’m doing a giveaway with Give Lovely over on Instagram. Make sure you head over there to get your chance to win one of these lovely gift boxes! You will just need to be following both of us, and like the picture as well as tag some friends that you think would love one of these. Nothing beats a good mail day, and how amazing would it feel for one of these to pop up at your doorstep?! The packaging is just adorable. They have several themes you can choose from that are pre-created for you. Bride to be, mama to be, teacher, etc. You can also create your own, which is the route that I took. I wanted Georgie to have a couple little surprises that he could open with me too. He loved it!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! We are off to Vegas for the ACM awards. Georgie is going to get lots of quality time with my family this weekend! Last year during ACM weekend I was also pregnant. I actually had G less than 2 weeks later. So next year (when I’m finally not pregnant) I will have a true “Vegas” time. For now, I’ll be hanging by the pool with my girlfriends, just bumping away, and eating lots of good food!
I wore this out and about while we were house hunting. Any other Nashvillians house hunters right now? This market is crazy, and we are having the hardest time finding what we have envisioned in our heads. I’m trying to stay patient and know the right one will come around when the time is right. I’m just hoping that time is before baby #2 gets here so the transition process will be just a little easier. A 14 month old, a newborn a traveling husband and a move might put this mama over the edge!
P.S. The denim jacket is back and I’m loving it! This distressed version is slightly oversized (I’m wearing an extra small so it wouldn’t be quite as big on me) and also under $100! If you have been following me for awhile now, you know that there is nothing I love better than a good graphic t-shirt! Naturally, I paired this jacket with one and some plain black strechy jeans. Now that I’m starting to get the bump this jeans still have enough strech to them to accomodate. I stalked these booties for quite sometime and they are finally on MEGA sale. WHOOHOO!! With western detailing on the top AND snakeskin on the bottom how could a girl resist?! You can totally rock them as a neutral. The fringe handbag is Jennifer Haley. She is such a badass designer, and an even better person. The bag is plenty big enough for me to throw Georgie’s diapers/change of clothes/snacks in for quick trips out.
Hope everyone can go out there and have a great week!
